ANGEL OF THE NORTH is a captivating oil on canvas by the very talented Belfast artist, Clinton Kirkpatrick.
I love the colours, texture and the sheer size of this piece. This is Clinton's interpretation of the contemporary sculpture Angel of the North which was designed by Anthony Gormley and located in Gateshead. The actual steel sculpture was completed in 1998 and is 20 metres tall and a wing span of 54 metres. The wings do not stand straight but are slightly angled 3.5 degrees forward to create a sense of embrace
